Slum Fire in Bangladesh Causes 11 Deaths

A mosquito coil (here is a link to Wikipedia for those who are not familiar with mosquito coil) set fire to buildings in a slum of Hazaribagh, Dhaka, Bangladesh at 3am on Monday.   The fire rapidly spread, and killed 11 people.   Although firefighters arrived at the area within a matter of minutes, they had a hard time putting it out.   In the end, more than 500 homes were damaged.

Libyan Security Officer Assassinated

National Security Chief Col. Farag al-Dersi, security chief of the eastern city of Benghazi, gets assassinated by three unknown men on his way home from work on Wednesday. There are no suspects yet as of the moment.

Suicide Bomber Detonates Explosives Near US Embassy in Kabul, Afghanistan

A suicide bomber disguised as a security guard was killed before entering the premises of a US military base in Kabul. The explosives he was carrying detonated however it was unclear if the shooting of the guard or if the bomber himself ignited the devices. Three died and three more were injured in the incident that happened on Wednesday at around 8 in the morning. The area where the incident took place is where international organizations, diplomats and senior government officials are located.
