Structural/Blast Engineer

Our focus is on Extreme Loading, including blast, ballistics, vehicle ramming, forced entry resistance, safety, engineering, and design.
Our primary offices are in New York and Washington DC.
Our projects include federal building assessment and design, iconic high-rises in major metropolitan areas, compound assessment and protection design for U.N. agencies worldwide, product design and testing for manufacturers and the U.S. federal government, software development, and training.

Position Description:
We are looking for someone who resonates with our mission statement and values and wants to be part of our team and help the company grow. As an Engineer at Stone Security Engineering you will be responsible for assessing facility vulnerabilities, developing mitigation strategies, and designing protective systems for a wide variety of clients and operations. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure our deliverables meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Licensed Professional Engineer in the United States
- Experience with dynamic and/or blast-resistant analysis and design.
- Between 5-15 years of experience in civil/structural/blast/ATFP engineering
- Minimum of 3 years experience working on protective design services.
- The position is based in New York City or Washington, DC.
- Remote work could be possible depending on the level of experience.
- Must be a United States citizen or Permanent Resident and pass a background check.
- Employees are subject to random drug screening as required by U.S. Government contracts.

Technical Skills:
- Experienced user of M.S. Office products and standard engineering software such as SAP 2000, Matlab, etc.
- Understanding of dynamic response of systems to blast effects.
- Excels at working directly with architects, contractors, other engineers, and owners.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of federal government protective design guidelines and criteria such as UFC’s 3-340-01 &02, 4-010-01, 4-020-01, 02FA, & 03FA, 4-023-03; the ISC Risk Management Process, the U.S. Veteran Affairs Physical Security and Resiliency Design Manual (PSRDM), and others.
- Master’s Science, or higher degree, in civil engineering with an emphasis on structural engineering.
- Experience with business development and capturing projects.
- Security Clearance or ability to obtain Security Clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments for blast, ballistic, forced entry, and vehicle ramming protection according to government or client-specific criteria.
- Support larger design teams by integrating blast and physical security considerations throughout the project life cycle, from concept design to construction administration.
- Develop mitigation approaches and designs to improve existing levels of construction protection.
- Represent the company in project and proposal coordination.
